From Extropia
This article is designed to help users with editing and otherwise contributing to Extropia's wiki. For help in-world such as citizens' advice and guides on life in Extropia, see Help:In-world.
First of all, thank you for visiting our wiki! As you may or may not be aware, we do run most of our functions through the Extropia Core website. Here, however, is your chance to join in the formation of our community and our creations, and to read up on what we've done in the past or will do in future.
But where to start?
This all depends on what you think you wish to take from this experience. If you are a spectator, relax. You're more than welcome to simply read over what we've done, take a browse through the images we've archived, and perhaps even correct a spelling error or two if you're so inclined. You won't even need to register, unless you fancy getting stuck in on the editing part.
How do I start editing?
First of all, we would ask that you take some time over your registration. If you've already signed up to our main website, you're halfway there. Anyone registered with ExtropiaCore.net already has a passport to this wiki. Simply place your login details in the form at the link from the top right of this page.
Having problems signing in? Delete any cookies you may have from ExtropiaCore.net and try again.
Now then, you'll notice your name in red where the login used to be. Click this link and you have yourself your very own corner of Extropian history! You're free to use this page for whatever aims, but it would be most hopeful to other users if you could tell us a little bit about yourself, and perhaps share some links to articles and projects you are working on.
You can even go a little further than this and promote yourself a little! See Help:Redirects for more information.
How do I really start editing?
Now that we know a little bit about you, you can get stuck right in. If you've never used it before, MediaWiki can be a somewhat complex editing tool, however the likes of Wikipedia may already have taught you all you need to know. Thankfully one can manage basic edits simply by clicking the "Edit" links on articles and typing, usng the Javascript toolbar to make use of the software's basic formatting functions. If you want to learn more, however, you'll have to read MediaWiki's own guide.
If you're all set with that, then you're about rerady to start, but bear in mind that if you start any new pages, we will require you to conform to our style. There is no formal guide written on this yet, but take a look at comparable articles to get yourself started. Acquaint yourself with our templates and categories, and away you go.
